MATERNITY PREP GUIDE

Thank you for your interest in booking your maternity session with me!

To ensure your pregnancy photoshoot is magnificent I do have a variety of gowns and fabrics for you to choose from.  That being said, you may want to have a few family photos in more casual attire.  For photos that you will display for years to come I recommend going with timeless colours, accessories and clothing.  I love more neutral colours generally which include: pastels, denim, beige, taupe, grey, olive, mustard and navy tones.

You don’t have to all wear the same colours but you can create unity by sharing a colour theme across family members with accessories like ties, earrings, hair clips, shawls and shoes. Great colour coordinates can consist of complimentary schemes (blues with mustard or beige, olives with dusty rose, purple with beige, etc.)  Pinterest has lots of wonderful examples too. Textures such as knits, silks and chiffons all have an everlasting effect.  Hairstyles look best loose and curled if you are able.  The camera will wash you out a tad bit so for make-up it’s best to have it more dramatic for an evening look. 

Feel free to bring indoor shoes with cleaned soles (for indoor sessions) as we may do some full body shots for a few photos.  If you don’t have dress shoes for the whole family or if the kids will just not wear them (mine never did enjoy it) we can have everyone without shoes or socks for a comfy casual feel.  Please also bring a light and a dark matching bra/panty set.  A strapless bra is also great if you have one. 

What to Avoid?

Please avoid shirts with logos as they are often hard to see.  Stay away from patterns such as stripes or highly-contrasted brightly-coloured floral.  You may want to leave watches out-especially fit bit style activity trackers as they are not usually as pleasing in photos.

What to bring?

Feel free to bring extra outfits if you like for a change of a look. Sweet snacks are always a great way to get kids to smile. Favorite stuffies or squeaky toys are always welcome.
